2 Chronicles 7:14
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
This is at the dedication of the Temple Solomon had built. Solomon had prayed to God to bless the Temple. The Lord outlined the proper attitudes and actions to enjoy the blessing of the Lord. Although the promise was specifically directed to “My People,” the principals are applicable to all who call upon the name of the Lord; to humble themselves, pray, to seek His face, and to turn from their wicked ways. These promises of God that He would hear their prayers, forgive their sins, and heal their land were addressed to His covenant people, Israel.
Those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we are the “My People,” the church. God has promised that He would hear. “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.” (1 John 3:22). He promised to forgive, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
