The 23rd Psalm, which is composed of only a few verses, is one of the most popular books in the Bible. These verses will touch, inspire and comfort you during the trials and tribulations of life. David wrote this Psalm over three thousand years ago, yet it is as fresh as if written today.
This Psalm leads our thoughts back to David’s youth, but this is no youthful composition. The veteran King is looking back over his life recognizing that if it had not been for the Lord on his side, he would not have made it. David is giving a word of testimony as to the goodness of his Shepherd.
As you read this series, I am going to explain each verse, to the best of my ability, of David’s life with the Shepherd. From personal experience, David paints a beautiful picture of God as a God who cares. This Psalm is about a saved person who is on a journey throughout which the Lord is leading him step by step. The great climax of this Psalm reminds the reader that God as a Shepherd and God as a host will give His people eternal life over death.
It is my prayer that you will be blessed by the messages that the Holy Spirit has given me of this 23rd number of Psalm.
God Bless you,
Rev. Steve Daniels, Jr.
