    JUNETEENTH HOLIDAY In observance of the Juneteenth Holiday, the Shiloh Church Office AND Outreach Center will be CLOSED Thursday, June 19, 2025. What is Juneteenth? Juneteenth (Jubilee Day; Emancipation Day (Texas); Freedom Day; Black Independence Day;) commemorates June 19, 1865, when Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger led Union soldiers into Galveston, Texas, bringing news that slavery in the United States had ended by executive decree.
